Burt Spruill Hudson, 65, of Roaring Gap, NC died Sunday, April 20, 2014.

Burt, a native of Roanoke Rapids, was the son of the late Herman Murrell Hudson, Jr. and Doris Paige Spruill Hudson.

Burt was a 1968 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School, served his country in the United States National Guard, was a 32nd degree Scottish rite Mason and was a Boy Scout earning its highest honor as Eagle Scout.

Burt is survived by his wife, Juanita W. Hudson of Roaring Gap; his son, Aaron Hudson and his wife, Kristen and their son William of Raleigh; brother, Ames Hudson and his wife, Alicelyn of Destin, FL; nephew, Andy Hudson of Hollywood, FL; nieces, Audrey Garris of Durham, NC and Caroline Hudson of Tallahassee, FL; stepsons, John Paul Jones, Jr. and his wife, Heather of Ennice, NC, and Jeffrey J. Jones and his wife, Jaime of Roaring Gap; two step-grandchildren, Emma and Hadden Jones; brother-in-law, Jim Waddell and his wife, Taryn of Cane Hill, Ark. and life-long friend, Bill Davis of Washington, NC.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 P.M. until service time.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
